March 9, 2pm EST we continue our salute to women in the industry as part of National Women’s History Month. Joining us is Meridith May, the dynamic Editorial Director and Publisher of The Tasting Panel Magazine, The SOMM Journal and The Clever Root. Meredith’s journalism career spans both print (Santa Barbara News Press) and radio (KIIS-FM & KLSX, Los Angeles, and KEYT, Santa Barbara).She joined Patterson’s Beverage Journal in 2000 as Senior Editor and advanced to Associate Publisher and Editor-in-Chief.

In 2007 Meridith joined forces with Anthony Dias Blue (also profiled on this show) to acquire Patterson’s and rebrand it as The Tasting Panel. Along the way she helped increased its team coverage and circulation and later used her business acumen to acquire and resuscitate The SOMM Journal. Most recently Meridith launched The Clever Root, a culinary magazine which covers food, farming and cannabis. Yes! You read that right.  The Clever Root, has a Cannabis Editor and coverage that delves into this budding industry. It’s a clever editorial move given the rate this industry is growing.

In our second segment, we’ll turn a new leaf from pot to tea pots. Miriam Novalle, Founder and CEO of T Salon, transformed her career from professional perfumer to tea. Yes, she’s a professional “nose” who knows more than many of us about tea, from harvesting to brewing, to promoting both the health benefits of tea to supporting sustainability, the latter of which is a mission for Miriam.

Before the restaurant “tea sommelier” and  “wellness tea gurus” there was Miriam who established T Salon in 1992 and has been a goodwill ambassador to educate and encourage people to enjoy drinking tea. Miriam believes in more than building a thriving business; she believes in a business that gives back to the consumers and the community.

Miriam provided victims of Hurricane Sandy T Salon tea as a means to help heal their mental, emotional and spiritual wounds, and she’s a tireless supporter of women’s health causes and especially breast and ovarian cancer research.  We look forward to sharing a pot of tea with Miriam on air March 9th.
